Abstract
This presentation will briefly review the past experiences and the current
practices in process corrosion monitoring, corrosion prediction, and corrosion
control technology as one of the key technologies supporting asset integrity
management in downstream manufacturing. It outlines the needs and challenges we
must meet for future refining industry. Current work in the area of corrosion
prediction modeling, online corrosion monitoring, process monitoring and
control, and risk assessment tools are discussed and shared. Integration and
Implementation plans are proposed.
Biography
De-Yuan Fan is a senior corrosion and materials specialist with Shell Global
Solutions US Inc at its Westhollow Technology Center in Houston, Texas. He has a
B.S. in Applied Chemistry and a M.S. in Materials Science form Wuhan University
in the People Republic of China and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas
A&M University. He has conducted Corrosion and Materials related R&D, and
provided technical support to manufacturing, and support major capital projects
in the refining and petrochemical industry for the past 17 years. He is
currently the chairman of the NACE Specific Technology Group (STG34) on
Corrosion in the Refining and Gas Processing Industries.
